Urban design, refurbishment and new build proposal in the historic town of Santiago de Compostela. The Galician countryside is formed by the pair allotment-dwelling. The allotments form terraces to adapt to the steep terrain of the competition site. We propose to continue altering the topography with new build linked to terraced retaining walls to enhance the relation between allotment and dwelling. The internal spatial quality is achieved by optimizing the essential uses within a box allowing open and future-proofed spaces around it. This economy of means will increase the life span of the building.
